About Tanusree (She/Her)
‘Begin’ is a dream and the dreamer is Tanusree Mustafi. A RCI licensed (A72321) Rehabilitation Psychologist and Psychotherapist, Tanusree envisioned an abstract space of time and space where one can be just themselves, without judgment, in absolute safety and empathy. She has more than 12 years of experience of working in Government as well as public sector, in clinical, educational as well academic field.
When Tanusree is working for a long time, she daydreams of a blue sky, gray asphalt and the promise of green forests. She loves rain, almost to the brink of obsession and she loves words - old books, odd lines from poems, torn letters, dictionaries and maps. Names of unknown places fascinates her, and their history, food, culture… Tanusree at heart is a naive child looking at the world with wide eyes full of wonder. Tanusree is a mother and to her, her furry and human children are the first priority. Tanusree is a person living with an autoimmune disorder, liberal thinker and a feminist. Working with her means to take these aspects of her into consideration.
What is Tanusree’s interpretation of therapy?
She believes therapy is collaborative work between client and therapist. It is focused, intense, challenging and at the same time authentic, supportive and empathetic. While the therapist brings their skills and expertise to the safe space of therapy, the client brings their unique lived experience. So, client and therapist are equal here, partners in the truest sense, for a brief while. It is the therapist’s job to provide a safe space where clients can explore their authentic self while learning to tolerate their own vulnerabilities. Discomfort, pain is an inevitable part of therapy and so is fear and unwillingness. Therapy is not a day in the amusement park but a day working and leisuring at a farm.
Tanusree is a person who is sensitive, emotional, quirky and the queen of awful jokes. In therapy occasionally you might catch rare glimpses of all these parts of hers. At the same time, within that therapy hour and space, it is her client, you, who takes priority. It is your time, space and being. She holds the safe space for you to be, to just be. During therapy, you will find her to be empathetic, compassionate and attentive. She doesn't claim to be a human mind expert nor a solution provider. She is not here to give prescriptions or advice about how you should be living your life. She firmly believes that you are the expert of your life. The answer to your question will be found by you. Tanusree is here to walk with you, in your journey, to be your companion and help you find yourself amidst all the chaos. She is also the one who will hold your ground while you explore the terrains of your inner world.
